Bug Description

If I burn an iso image ( CD-RW) with Brasero 0.8.2 on Ubuntu 8.10 the disk will not mount on Ubuntu 8,10. However, it will mount properly on Ubuntu 8.04. Iso image disks burned on Ubuntu 8.04 with Brasero 0.7.1 mount properly on Ubuntu 8.10. When you try to mount the iso disk (created on Ubuntu 8.10) on Ubuntu 8.10 the following entries fill up the messages log:

[ 2192.591823] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3

I assume it eventually times out because the following message pops up in a dialog box:

Unable to mount cd ...

DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

This happened with four new CD-RW disks that I burned on Ubuntu 8.10. The same four disk re-burned on Ubuntu 8.04 mounted properly on Ubuntu 8.10 The same cdrom drive is used on Ubuntu 8.04 and Ubuntu 8.10. The drive information is listed below.

This may be a DBus problem instead of a Brasero one!! What else can I provide to help solve this problem.

I submitted this bug and I noticed some slightly different entries in the message log when I tried to mount a 5th CD-RW disk on Ubuntu 8.10 that was created on Ubuntu 8.10.

I have also had this problem over the last couple of days. I'm attempting to burn a copy of Fedora 9 for use on an old server machine. My main machine is running Ubuntu 8.10. Have tried burning with Brasero 0.8.2. No errors received while burning the CD (have tried on three different CD-RWs, not all from same manufacturer). Have also tried downloading image using wget and bittorrent to try and ensure it is not a corrupt image.

Error when mounting:
Unable to mount Fedora 9 i386 Disc 1
DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

Note that I don't always see the error dialog, even though there are errors reported in the syslog.

At first I thought the burner might be on its way out, but the same message appears when the disc is loading into the secondary DVDROM drive, so I can't be entirely sure.

Example from DVD-RW drive from /var/log/syslog:

Confirmed that ISO image not corrupt following instructions from here:

Installed K3b [1.0.5] from Synaptic to check whether issue lies with Brasero or the writer.

For reference, the DVD-RW is shown as: TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S182M
The additional DVDROM is shown as: SONY DVD-ROM DDU1613

Using known good CD-RW media, attempted another burn using K3b (disc had been pre-used [once], but not tested with so far... formatted OK by K3b). Noted that some media used in earlier Brasero tests are now completely unusable [two 12x CD-RWs, previous media from same pack has been fine], hence the use of a previously untested known good disc. Disc tested burnt at 4x speed. Verify warned that the disc differed from original - no additional details, though. Log attached.

Ejected and reinserted CD-RW which mounted fine. No errors in /var/log/syslog this time:

Nov 22 16:31:35 alias kernel: [13074.980558] cdrom: sr0: mrw address space DMA selected

Nov 22 16:31:35 alias kernel: [13075.633472] ISO 9660 Extensions: RRIP_1991A

Unfortunately this doesn't prove a problem with the media, drive, Brasero or one of the underlying components but it might be worth doing a test with K3b using new media and seeing what happens.

Burning Fedora 10 Live (i686 and x86_64) with Brasero 0.8.2 gives no errors during burning but the resulting disks fail the integrated checksum test of Fedora.

When trying to mount these disks in Ubuntu 8.10 one obtains the "L-EC uncorrectable error" error messages already mentionend above.

When burning both Live CDs with K3b 1.0.5 they pass Fedora's internal test and mount cleanly in Ubuntu 8.10.

Therefore I would conclude that there really exists a problem with Brasero 0.8.2.

Same issue in intrepid 8.10 although if I make the copy with brasero to a iso image and then use nautilus-cd-burner application to burn de resulting iso to the DVD it works that way and no errors. That is with a DVD movie to a DVD double layer.

I posted this to bugzilla.gnome.org about a month ago. A developer responded with a request for additional information. I sent the addition information, but there has been no further action as of today. The bug number is 563924. I have been using the nautilus cd burner application to burn ISO cds and dvds. It works OK, but it would be nice to have brasero working again.

Hi.

Am getting similar errors:

dvd burning is completely fine in Opensuse 11.1 - Debian Lenny and Arch Linux .

It is just Ubuntu that it fails (100% of the time) it is always at the end - during the cache

When I put the blank dvd in I get
