Bug Description

I am experiencing generalized, inconsistent display corruption with Kubuntu 8.10 beta on my Thinkpad X200.

Sometimes it is confined to certain windows, sometimes display-wide. I cannot see any pattern to cause this or duplicate it.

Often it will occur when opening a new window or other redraw-heavy type events. For example. I have included a screenshot. When I open this from Dolphin, it will be corrupted until the point when it is completed loaded, at which point it will "stabilize" and show correctly.

In the attached screenshot, there is the obvious corruption on the left hand side of the screen. Also, on the bottom of the screen in plasma, some features are not drawn.

It would probably be useful if you could attach the output of "lspci -vvnn" and the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

I just sent the machine in for service, I should have it back on Wed and I'll post the output then.

Apologies for the delay, the machine took quite a bit longer to come back from service than they had originally told me.

Also, I have upgraded to 2:2.4.1-1ubuntu10 and still have the same problems. The attached log file is from after the upgrade.

We'd like to forward your bug upstream, however upstream requires
that you first test it against their newer driver code.

To save you the effort of building the driver from source, we've built
packages for the driver and its new dependencies.

So you have a couple options:

 1. Download and test .debs for intrepid, from:
     https://edge.launchpad.net/~intel-gfx-testing/+archive

 -or-

 2. Download and test the Jaunty alpha-2 (or newer) Live CD,
(which includes a beta of the new xserver 1.6 as well).
     See http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/9.04/ for ISOs

Thanks ahead of time! You can simply reply to this email to report your
findings.

P.S., if you wish to forward your bug upstream yourself, please follow
these directions to do so:
  http://intellinuxgraphics.org/how_to_report_bug.html

I would just like to add, that I only get this redraw problems with EXA (default). If I switch to UXA/DRI2, then performance is better and I did not see any redraw problems.

For more info, see:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/UxaTesting

The only problem is that with UXA I get X server crash on suspend/resume - see bug 347587
