Bug Description

Binary package hint: libqtwebkit-dev

libqtwebkit-dev is impossible to install. It requires libqt4-dev, yet for some reason it also wants to remove it. libqt4-dev also seems to depend on this, yet it doesn't get installed along with it.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libqtwebkit-dev: Depends: libqt4-dev but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

This is on K/Ubuntu 8.04, with libqtwebkit-dev candidate being 0~svn29752-1

I am able to confirm this... Even if libqt4-dev is installed first the package libqtwebkit-dev will not install...

The libwebkit* packages are not a part of the Qt packages. I'm changing back to the proper source package, libqt4-webkit is from the Qt packages.

[00:04] <ScottK-laptop> stdin: Do you have a fix for Bug 230904? It does seem to be giving some people trouble in Hardy.

So if you're on Hardy and have hardy-backports enabled, remove libqtwebkit-dev and then upgrade libqt4-dev if needed. libqtwebkit-dev is obsolete if you have the hardy-backports libqt4-dev.

A little curious though, does the outlined fix work for the original reporter?
