Bug Description

recent updates have broken usplash, firefox default's home page & maybe other
things related to ubuntu's artwork.
I've just updated this package & firefox says it can't find default home page
in: /usr/share/ubuntu-artwork/home/index.html.
also, I've done a dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-$(uname -r) & have this error:

javier@A1691:~$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-$(uname -r)
Password:
cpio: ./usr/lib/usplash/usplash-artwork.so: No existe el fichero o el
directorioNot touching initrd symlinks since we are being reinstalled (2.6.12-9.18)
Not updating image symbolic links since we are being updated (2.6.12-9.18)
Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub .
Testing for an existing GRUB menu.list file... found: /boot/grub/menu.lst .
Searching for splash image... none found, skipping...
Found kernel: /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.12-9-686
Found kernel: /boot/memtest86+.bin
Updating /boot/grub/menu.lst ... done

Then, rebooting leads to usplash not showing at all.

The usplash bug is entirely independent of the firefox issue, and has already
been fixed.

ubuntu-docs needs to ship the HTML version of the about page, and firefox needs
to change its default URL to point to that... So I'll pass this bug conch on to
ubuntu-docs and jbailey first. :-)

Changing the system-wide default homepage won't change individual users' default
homepages, so lots of upgrades will suddenly start getting "can't find homepage"
errors. We need to keep the location intact (or provide a symlink). Changing
the default in firefox and removing the symlink in dapper would probably be
reasonable.

No it hasn't. I'm haing this issue & I have
breezy up to date. I've filed another bug
since it's not related to this one.

Fixed in 5.10-5, but further improvements needed to the page (missing image,
missing stylesheet)

Closing this bug, though.

The new "black and white" default home page at the:

  file:///usr/share/ubuntu-artwork/home/index.html

location is supplied by:

  ubuntu-docs

however 'ubuntu-docs' is not always getting installed automatically by the
'update-manager'; see:

  http://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17095

so users that do not follow the instructions about a smart-upgrade or a forceful
install of 'ubuntu-docs' will still get an error about a missing-homepage.
