Bug Description

Binary package hint: liferea

I keep opening up Liferea and the headlines I have already read are marked as unread. They are not updated ones or duplicates, they are the same ones I read last time the program was open. I come out of Liferea properly so it shouldn't be because it crashed. I didn't have this problem with gutsy

Please let me know what information you need

ubuntu 8.04
Liferea 1.4.14-0ubuntu4

The problem disappeared for me after I had renamed my Liferea profile and reimported my feeds.

After a reboot - meaning restart, shutdown+boot, etc. - items already marked as read appear unread again.

Currently happens on Intrepid Ibex.

It seems to me that liferea saves the read/unread status only if it is exited through its own "quit" command. If it exits due to the user logging out, the items read during that session are not marked read the next time the program is started.

If liferea would impliment regular auto-saving of feed read/unread status this would resolve the issue. I expirience this problem any time liferea closes in any way other then using File > Quit.

Just my 2 cents : I'm using liferea version from getdeb. And it fixes the bug. So could it be possible to upgrade to liferea 1.4.22 ?!

How did you even upgrade liferea from getdeb? It asks for libgnutls13 which is outdated. Of course I could you some funny third party sources, but we all know that this is playing with fire...

If this is really a Liferea bug, why does it only appear after updating to Intrepid? And why do I have similar problems with Gajim (I also never close befor shutting down)?

Bernhard : I installed it without any kind of problem. And I don't need moral courses. Thanks.

I was just saying upgrading to 1.4.22 version from getdeb.net was fixing the bug. I'm using Ubuntu since Dapper, and getdeb since Gutsy, without any problems. So...

I was in no way giving you morals on third party sources, I was just joking above. I had a getdeb repo which had problems like I said above, but I managed to upgrade now by going to getdeb and downloading the deb address directly from their site.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because liferea 1.4.23 is available in the latest development version of Ubuntu - the Jaunty Jackalope.

If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please follow the instructions for "How to request new packages" at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports#request-new-packages
