Bug Description

Binary package hint: ogmrip

If you grab a DVD with ogmrip and have saving of subtitles enabled which is the default you got an unknown subtitle error and the action breaks. This could be fixed through installing ocrad (which is an Optical Character Recognition program) so ogmrip package should be depend on it.

I have figured out the ogmrip depends on gocr (which is installed) or ocrad (which is not). So ogmrip has to be fixed to use gocr if available or ocrad should be preferred.

Hi, I've packaged the new upstream version (0.11.2) in my PPA. I also included a small fix that should fix your subtitle problem, and it seems to work for me. Can you test my package and see if it resolves your issue?

We'll see about getting into hardy if it resolves your bug.

Many thanks for your reply/help but the issue still happens. The problem is that still only gocr is installed but obviously not used. The configure script of ogmrip has a point which one should be used or auto. Maybe auto doesn't work or the gocr option is enabled.
The new package of debian multimedia seems to depend on ocrad http://debian-multimedia.org/dists/unstable/main/binary-i386/package/ogmrip.php so I guess it would be fixed with this version.
I don't know which ocr program is better but at least a out of the box working program is more important imho.

I was able to reproduce this problem, but it occurs for me using gocr or ocrad. The --with-ocr config option does work, however there seems to be a bug in one or both of the ocr programs, or maybe something else. I've posted on the ogmrip forums in an attempt to get it straightened out. If i find a fix for this, i'll update this bug and the ogmrip in my ppa.

This bug was fixed in the package ogmrip - 0.11.1-0.1ubuntu1

---------------
ogmrip (0.11.1-0.1ubuntu1) hardy; urgency=low

  * debian/libogmrip0.install :
    - Don't install the .desktop file in the library package
      (LP: #204448)
  * debian/rules, debian/control :
    - Build with --with-ocr=ocrad : ogmrip can't choose at
      runtime, so we have to make a choice at build time.
    - Add ocrad to build-dep
    - Don't depend on gocr
    - LP: #200600
  * debian/ogmrip-doc.links :
    - Link ogm rip doc to /usr/share/gtk-doc so that they
      could appear in devhelp.
  * debian/control :
    - Use the new control field Homepage
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.7.3
  * Modify Maintainer value to match the DebianMaintainerField
    specification.
