Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-session

Every time I log into gnome, the keyboard layout defaults to the english one, though last session I selected an spanish one.

I have to go to the keyboard selection panel, where the spanish one is the only one listed (see screenshot 1), add a new spanish one (see screenshot 3), then the keyboard begins to work as it should and I can delete the recently created layout.

Please look also to the screenshot 2, where you can see that it is loaded empty at first, with some grey shadows where the keyboard layout picture should be shown.

Thank you for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Do you have anything to .xsession-errors when running into the bug?

hi, I'm using hardy with last gnome-session, that is, 2.21.90-0ubuntu2

I'm attaching my .xsession-errors. I don't know if it related to my problem but among all the warnings and debugging lines I can see the following:

** (gnome-settings-daemon:6116): DEBUG: Starting keyboard manager
** Message: failed to load session from /home/dani/.nautilus/saved-session-W78H4T
** (gnome-settings-daemon:6116): DEBUG: Plugin keyboard: active

I'm adding too what gets dumped to the .xsession-errors when adding a new keyboard layout in the keyboard capplet, that as pointed before is the only way to get the keyboard working again after the session login.

There are a lot of errors of "no symbols defined for ..."
