Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Mozilla Developers released Firefox 3.0 Beta 2 on December 19th. The firefox-3.0 package should be updated for Hardy so users could test and file bugs.

From the Release Notes,
Firefox 3 Beta 2 includes approximately 900 improvements over the previous beta, including fixes for stability, performance, memory usage, platform enhancements and user interface improvements. Many of these improvements were based on community feedback from the previous beta.

Marcelo, I'm pretty sure fix committed is the correct status.

Also, if I am not mistaken, is it to late to include this package for Gutsy? IMHO, for the reasons stated in the bug report, this FF3-B2 should be packaged for Gutsy as well. See: Bug #178066

Indeed, packages (firefox-3.0 and xulrunner-1.9) are ready to be uploaded.
We're just waiting for nss to leave the NEW queue (caused by soname bump).

Fabien, will the beta 2 package be included the repos?

Yes, we just have (lib)nss stuck in the NEW-bin queue since Dec 22 and no one to approve it.

please test the firefox-3.0 and xulrunner-1.9 package in the gutsy PPA of the mozillateam:

  https://edge.launchpad.net/~mozillateam/+archive

those are preview packages of what we would like to push to gutsy-updates soonish.

Positive feedback wanted and required. So if you run gutsy and want firefox-3.0 to be upgraded soon, please comment.

Hi Alexander, just installed the files (firefox3, xulrunner + both gnome support files) in Gutsy without a problem. A few things I noticed:
- Alpha8 bookmarks are gone, history isn't
- Adding bookmarks (using CTRL-D or through menu) has this floating dialog that seems to hang under the star (*) in the URL bar, but is misaligned a bit
Besides that: looks way more polished than alpha8. I'll keep on using it where I can.

To avoid confusion: with 'seems to hang under star' I mean: is positioned with top left of dialog under the star. This could very well be a FF3-beta2 thing, but i just noticed it.

Quick question, what are the firefox-grandparadiso and firefox-trunk packages? I just installed plain old firefox-3.0 on my Gutsy. With that said, everything works wonderfully. Dark themes finally look awesome!!

I forgot to add that the automatic adobe flash installation failed, and I had to install it manually (w/ the directions on the adobe site) and it worked just fine afterwards.

In hardy we have updated flashplugin-nonfree already. Other plugins
are going to come. Most will go to /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins though.
