Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

Hi,

Middle-clicking a window titlebar used to make it lose focus in Metacity. Is there any practical reason why Compiz does not mimic this behaviour? I thought it was supposed to act just like metacity, not to confuse users.

Thanks.

Well, the window is sent to the background alright, but it still keeps focus here.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Can you try with latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

Hi Joel,

Yes, the problem still happens.

Thanks for confirming this. What actually happens when you middle-click a title bar? Is it that the window gets put behind other windows but retains focus? Is the desired behaviour that the window is put behind other windows and focus is transferred to the most recently used window?

Yes, exactly. That is the way Metacity has always worked, and I think it would be a good thing to keep both window managers coherent.

I'm also seeing this issue, Karmic, but I presume issue is general.
Threw question out in #ubuntu chat, two answers, both affirmative > confirming.

Window gets sent to background but retains focus. Opposed to behaviour in metacity where focus is transfered as well.
