The released ubuntu-11.04-desktop-amd64.iso does not boot from flash drive with the noveau driver. I had to go through the steps described earlier to be able to boot from flash to hi-res Unity mode using nvidia glx driver.
After installation from the flash and rebooting the display stays garbled. So before I could work with 11.04 I had to do the steps below:
1) Reboot after installing ubuntu-11.04-desktop-amd64.iso from the flash drive to the hard drive
2) At the grub prompt select Recovery Mode
3) At the next prompt select netroot (drop to root shell prompt with networking)
4) from the root console,
apt-get install nvidia-glx-185
5) Reboot again
After these steps 11.04 boots from the hard drive to the hi-res Unity mode.
