I've been unable to try Lucid at all due to this bug since Beta 1. No settings help, including the nomodeset and radeon.modeset=0, and this behavior continues in the release candidate.

My hardware:

Intel Core i5-750 2.66GHz
8GB G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3-1600 RAM
ASRock P55 Extreme Motherboard
Intel Caviar Black 500GB HDD
HIS Radeon HD 5850 1GB
LITE-ON DVD+/-DL
