even a better workaround is setting "when lid closed" tell it to "do nothing" or "blank screen"
This worked for me when unplugging the cable it only blanked the screen or did nothing instead of hibernating.
Maybe there is a solution to be found in this context?
I am using the latest LTS version of ubuntu, up to date till today.
