I can confirm this bug with hardy. Unloading ehci_hcd or connecting via Firewire works.

Regarding your HP-problems: Are you sure you suffer from the same bug? I suggest opening a new bug with your problem which can be marked as duplicate if it is really the same bug. Otherwise your problems are very unlikely to be seen.

(Sorry for the mess, there is some bug in Malone regarding the detection of the remote bug url)
