Okay so I didn't wait until tomorrow. I did learn you can update your Nvidia driver just by adding this to your repository in Karmic.

Launch Terminal and copy and paste this in
 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nvidia-vdpau/ppa
Then I updated the Kernel via my previous instructions.
Then I had one reboot and PERFECT sound but then I restarted again and it would not boot until I went back to 2.6.31.
WHY???????????????
P.S. I know this is not the Ubuntu forums but this sound problem really sucks!
