I tried

deleting /home/.../.pulse folder
killall pulseaudio && PULSE_NO_SIMD=1 pulseaudio

and it seems to work fine.
Reading around seems a problem have been spotted in the mmx optimized volume code, isn't it ?

So next question now:
how do I spawn PULSE_NO_SIMD=1 pulseaudio automatically at boot, till a proper fix comes out ?
