@Simon, Jmadero, thanks for the positive feedback! I'm glad that you enjoyed the fix. Slightly more realistic than kisses and beer, I (and the company I work for, Canonical) always appreciate contributions to Ubuntu and its upstreams.
@Pebas, Carlos, so it seems that this fixes the rattling noise for most people but not all. Perhaps I'll have to go looking to see if there are more places that need similar fixes...
@Luke, Martin, so although this doesn't seem to fix the problem for *all* people, and no people have reported regressions, I still think it qualifies for an SRU.
