I've uploaded a version in my ppa which I hope fixes the problem the right way here:

Once it has finished building, please test it (make sure you upgrade not only pulseaudio, but also all packages starting with "pulseaudio-" or "libpulse"). Given a few positive responses here, I'll go ahead and request an SRU (stable release update).
