I have lost all sound now. I'm unsure what happened. It seemed to happen between reboots so it's possible a patch caused it. I'm debating between doing a full install of 10.04 alpha 3 in a few days or installing 9.10 in my alt boot partition and then slowly adding patches up to current.
I suspect I have now tinkered with enough stuff trying to restore sound that going forward is no longer viable in trying to help with a common fix. Ugh.
