I have a 11.10 with kernel 3.0.0-21-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 25 17:57:41 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
and the issue is present.

My 12.04 (kernel 3.2-0-25-generic) reports the message :

could not get freq at ep 0x86

so the message is slightly different - the web cam does work....
