can you be more precise what I have to do for upsteam testing?
Currently I have the kernel:

Linux server 3.0.0-12-generic #20-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 7 14:56:25 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

so do you want me to install kernel 3.1-rc10-oneiric (http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.1-rc10-oneiric/)
so I need probably install the following two packages:

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.1-rc10-oneiric/linux-headers-3.1.0-030100rc10-generic_3.1.0-030100rc10.201110200610_amd64.deb

http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.1-rc10-oneiric/linux-image-3.1.0-030100rc10-generic_3.1.0-030100rc10.201110200610_amd64.deb

And adjust grub?
