It sounds like you aren't experiencing the same issues that are the subject of this bug. You would only see it if the acer-wmi module was loading, and your wifi wouldn't start working after a while.

It may be that the acer-wmi driver should support your model but doesn't yet, or that it does support it but isn't auto-loading correctly (I saw some changes after natty to fix auto-loading on some models). But the way you're trying to load the module won't work; insmod requires a path to the file. You're wanting modprobe, i.e. 'sudo modprobe acer-wmi'. All of this is really off-topic for this bug, so I suggest opening a new bug for this if e.g. your hotkeys don't work.
