Trying to follow the discussion for this bug -- I am curious why the acer-wmi driver does not load at all on this Acer Aspire 5100 laptop. I saw this hardware listed as being supported somewhere, but when trying to insmod it isn't even found.

$ sudo insmod acer-wmi
insmod: can't read 'acer-wmi': No such file or directory
$ locate *acer-wmi.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.38-8-generic/kernel/drivers/platform/x86/acer-wmi.ko
