Confirming also on an "ATI Technologies Inc Device 9488" (apparently I have an unrecognized pci id, even after running update-pciids).

Possibly relevant datum - lots of the following logging from the kernel:

[drm:radeon_cs_ioctl] *ERROR* Invalid command stream !
