I considered that.

In my case, it loads, it just doesn't work for very long, and I can't compile the latest driver source from Atheros.

I'm going to try out rmmod and modprobe to reload the module and see if that fixes it, indicating that the driver might be getting stuck in a way that can be fixed through a reset, but obviously this isn't even a practical fix - just confirming the problem is all in software.
