I have the same problem with 2.6.37-7 (natty).

I will have Xorg spike at 17% or 50% or more of CPU when moving mouse. There I just hit 34%. And 37%.

Only reliable way to fix is to reboot.

I only have pidgin and chromium (daily) running.
