My Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 (BIOS version A07) has this problem.
I tried adding the

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="acpi_sleep=nonvs"
to /etc/default/grub and rebooted but that had no effect (maybe made it worse?).
I'm not confident configuring GRUB though.
