Having the same problem when upgrading to 10.10.

Processor: 1 x AMD Phenom II X4 940 (4x 3.0GHz), 2MB L2 / 6MB L3 Cache, 32/64 bits, Socket AM2+, Boxed

Also i think that my fan is in constant speed now, previously and on lucid lynx fan speed increased on increased cpu load.
