I am adding the regression-potential tag. I have done additional testing and I can confirm this MD RAID bug as a regression-potential because in 10.04 the issue does not exist. I can see my RAID 5 array no problems, as well as the non-raid SATA drive also connected through the Intel ICH10 southbridge.
