I have also the same problem.
I have a ATI Radeon 9000 mobility

kdm.log says:
drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -12. Kernel failed to parse or rejected command stream. See dmesg for more info.

This happens very often. System is unuseable. But I can't say how to reproduce. But I think it happens when I change the focus to an other window or maximise a window
