I have to say, since upgrading to Maverick, I haven't had any lock up problems (other than on suspend), although I haven't yet left it running for a great many hours at a time. I'm using the nvidia driver (latest from repo is 256.44), on 64 bit ubuntu. This is on my W510 with 8GB ram.
