I think the list of things that are common between reports is more like
a) Motherboard with AMD SB600 southbridge
b) USB webcam using the uvcvideo driver
c) A USB wireless adapter (or possibly any other USB high speed device that's in active use - see below).
d) USB controller errors, cutting off access to all USB high speed devices including the webcam and wireless, when trying to ACCESS webcam. Connecting new USB devices may also fail.

Everyone also has 64-bit CPUs, but since they're the only kind used with this motherboard chipset that's not terribly surprising. There's also a lot of AMD/ATI graphics cards, but that seems most likely to be a coincidence.

I actually encountered this issue on Gentoo with "046d:0809 Logitech, Inc. Webcam Pro 9000" and a "2040:7070 Hauppauge Nova-T Stick 3" and found this bug report when Googling for solutions, so it's neither Ubuntu-specific nor just restricted to USB wireless adapters.
