I have now successfully tested the latest daily build of Maverick LiveCD.
The bug still occurs exactly as described.
Unfortunately I cannot personally test the upstream kernel as the hardware I have available for testing is not mine and is in active use. Could someone else who has the same problem contribute this information? That way maybe we could get the ball rolling on this one...
