Plugging the same USB 3.0 device now tends to result in a kernel panic, booting my out my my X session and leaving me at a generic, purple Ubuntu logo screen, with no response to keyboard or mouse input whatsoever.
Booting the system with same unit plugged in on power-on leaves a frozen system after entering user name and password (frozen cursor, no reponse to keyboard input).
