I searched pretty extensively and can't find the meaning of 'kernel-series-unknown'.

Sorry if this wasn't clear... this was a problem introduce in the 2.26.31 kernel and the fix is landing on the upstream 2.26.33 kernel. Request is for to be fixed in 2.6.32, and if not too disruptive, 2.26.31 as well.
