For the record, I tried hibernate-resume and received the same behavior as happened with suspend-resume: blinking "sleep" LED and hard power-off then power-on to restart.

Like I said, I have a Thinkpad X61 Tablet.

I'm also having trouble getting CPU frequency scaling to work, but that is way off this reservation...
