And more re Juan post #21 recipe to set kernel parameter nomodeset:

1. Playing movies on both laptop screen and external monitor/projector hangs the external
after a few seconds

2. Movies played with the image processing language IDL hang also after a few seconds or
some GUI clicking.

Are these X penalties from setting nomodeset?
