Problem solved (for me):

It was my QuickCam. Immediately after unplugging i was able to start Rhythmbox and hear sound.

The question remains:
Why does pulseaudio completely block sound functions if a device which was not even used makes trouble.

In Jaunty it worked like a charm

Btw; i wonder lsusb did not list it with the address 3:3:1...
