Hi, I've one of those acer aspire 5315 users, having the heat problem since hardy, a bit worse on jaunty and now almost all the time with karmic. i did the kernel updates as described in former posts. it solved the problem for a short period until I did the latest routine update. since then my fans are not working at all, till the laptop shuts down. if i restard immediately they'll turn on, staying at the highest rotation speed level.
I tried reinstall the kernel updates with no effect. I now try the bios update, but I didn't get along with both solutions.
Alex ISO Image won't burn - my brasero simply says it'll start the burning process but then nothing happesn.
and I tried to boot from the free-dos cd. it asks me then if I whish to install the dos on my hard disk which i refused. i then end on "A:" promt, where I have the usual DOS boot data. the cd-drive doesn't exist (not as X: or anything else) an I've got no idea how to mount it.
