Is Ubuntu doing anything to fix this? Been months now with no fix in sight. The workarounds do not work and switching to another browser does not work as well. Yet Windows works fine.

Lets get on this please!!!!

Chromium + Even slower than Firefox
Firefox latest version from 3.5.0 + Slows and crokes.....
Opera + does NOT work well at all
