No they don't.
They merely make the disconnects less frequent - making it a bit more usable than earlier where the disconnects were rather frequent.
However, as I mentioned earlier in comment #44, the problem of bad performance on loaded network still exists.
May be, that could also be because of NetworkManager doing frequent scans in my setup - I still need to try out the manual iface config to rule out that possibility too.
