@Mark: Doesn't work for me. If he change UUID to /dev/sda1 in grub and fstab, I get this message and then it drops me into BusyBox:
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: No such file or directory.
... (some more of these messages, but with other directories) ...
Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init.
