I'm going to need dmesg output. Please boot a liveCD, and obtain the output of dmesg:

dmesg > dmesg.txt

Send me the dmesg.txt file. Easiest way to do this is to save it to a USB disk or similar, and reboot to where you can attach that file to the bug report.

Note, I have n nForce4 motherboard aswell, and a 300G SATA disk attached to it, and it is working fine (Athlon64).

So this is a rare case. What I'd like to know is, is the disk actually an SATA disk, or is it a normal PATA disk?
