This also happens on lucid lynx amd64 on a Dell m1330 notebook. Does anyone now which things trigger kdm to start through upstart? Maybe we have to add something there. The startup file should be /etc/init/kdm.conf

Has anyone tried to delete it yet? Would be interesting to see if it still occurs or if X is not started at all.
