Comment 80 for bug 576724

I'm NOT progressing well at all!

I just let Wubi do it's "automatic download thing" rather than using a local image or disc. After completing I just get the not so uncommon "unrecoverable error" message while trying to boot Ubuntu from the Win XP menu.

I'll delete that Wubi install from Win and try an install off of an original Lucid disc to see what happens, but I must be honest. IMHO Wubi is poorly supported, not just by GRUB devs, but all throughout, and I hate to see those who are effected by this bug have to suffer because the Wubi dev team fails to test as well as they should.

Wubi has always been a real kludge IMHO!!! I'll still do some additional testing to see if I can try to narrow this down.

Should you be interested I'll include the RESULTS.txt from that trial.
