This came after my previous graphical login had a popup stating that the Power Configuration Defaults were not properly set in Gnome. Sorry, I didn't write that error down.
In this case, I had been installing various software (Kino, OpenShot) but also had another admin installing on this system, so the problem might lie elsewhere.
