My bug report #588042 appears to be a duplicate of this.

I noticed, after submitting that report, that I can change the cursors other than the arrow cursor (such as the text vertical-bar cursor and cursors for dragging window boundaries, etc.), but usually the arrow cursor stays the same. This adds to the confusion about what's happening, since that's the cursor which is selected in the dialog - you don't see the changes until you check the cursor shape and color in, for example, a text window.

Also, variable-size cursors, such as Redglass, cannot be resized - moving the size slider doesn't change the size of the cursor being used.

As for getting someone to fix this, well, as was pointed out in an earlier comment, this has a low priority, and the number of volunteers for fixing this is limited. I certainly would like to see it fixed.
