I can confirm this on my Maverick installation - the system is up-to-date. It is the exact same bug. The file translation options in /etc/checkinstallrc are set to 1 by default. The system had a clean install of Lucid when it was released and upgraded to the Maverick RC, so the file could not have been present from prior versions. I did not encounter this under Lucid.
