I can confirm this issue is now occuring in the 11.04 Alpha 3 alternate CD, I have disabled my FDD controller in the BIOS (MB is a Biostar A880G+ in case it helps), the debian-installer partition utility never starts because it keeps trying to mount /dev/fd0 (which shouldn't even exist).
