Similar situation here:
Dell Vostro 1320 with broadcom 4312 chipset.
It used to work fine (out of the box) with Jaunty.
The wireless device is shown in the commandline (iwconfig), but the NetworkManager refuses to enable wireless networking. I've had exactly the same behavior already in Hardy.
