I am also effected on my 7736z. No sound after fresh install to 10.10. Received new linux kernel update this morning (12 Oct) but no change in sound.

I began a bug report at https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/658322 before I found this report. I think they are the same.
